Antique Brass Oil Lamp — Converted to Electric, Fully Rewired

Antique brass oil lamp converted to electric, restored and rewired at the Lamp Lab. The font, base, and burner ring are original brass with the warm, uneven patina you only get from a century of handling — no polishing, no lacquer, left exactly as it came to me.

What was done

• Complete rewire, front to back
• New socket and new switch
• Extended key fitted — the original key was still with the lamp but no longer reached the socket, so it was replaced with a longer one that turns cleanly
• New cord with a proper strain relief at the base
• Old shredded felt removed and replaced with a new leather bottom
• Fully disassembled, cleaned, and reassembled
• Tested and confirmed working
