About that "40W max" on your fixture

That rating is a heat limit left over from the incandescent era. A 40W incandescent actually pulled 40 watts and ran hot enough to scorch a socket. These pull 4. Even the 60W-equivalent only draws about 6 watts. You are nowhere near the limit either way — so pick based on how bright you want the room, not what the label says.

Which temperature?

2200K — Amber Glow. Deep vintage warmth, the softest of the three. This is the one that makes a restored fixture look like it never left 1925. Best where the bulb is part of the look — exposed candelabra arms, no shades. 40W equivalent only.

2700K — Soft White. The standard, and the one I reach for most. Cozy without going orange. Dining rooms, entryways, bedrooms, hallways — anywhere people also need to see what they're doing.

5000K — Daylight. Crisp and bright, no warmth to it. Not the vintage look, but the right call for task lighting, closets, workshops, or a sconce over a bathroom mirror where you need true color.

How many do I need?

One per socket. A 6-arm chandelier takes 6. Grab the 12-pack if you've got a larger fixture, two fixtures in the same room, or you want spares on the shelf — it works out cheaper per bulb.

Free, both sizes. Bulbs pack in their own padded compartment. Ordering a fixture at the same time? They ship in the same box, never loose against brass.
